Guitar and vibes player Dave Hamilton was one of the select Motown studio musicians to receive their own LP release as an artist on Motown’s specialist Workshop Jazz imprint; the album, 1963’s Blue Vibrations, mainly consisting of vibraphone instrumentals, spawned one promotional single to be covered here on Motown Junkies. Dave continued at Motown as a much-respected session man until the mid-Sixties (though accounts differ as to whether he was ever actually considered to be a full member of the house band, the Funk Brothers), setting up a series of labels before passing away in 1995.
