Not a stage name for erstwhile Motown mover and shaker Richard “Popcorn” Wylie, as is often reported, the Vows were in fact a rather obscure raucous West Coast R&B group who provided backing vocals on a few early sides for Motown subsidiary VIP Records before getting a one-off single deal of their own.
