If the Headliners surely didn’t kid themselves they were making a rival to I Get Around, it must still have been galling to play the tape back and find they hadn’t even made an Amusement Parks USA or Salt Lake City.(3)
A first little glimpse into Brenda’s future, the role she’d go on to play now that the A-list superstar masterplan Motown had mapped out for her lay scrunched up in the trash. Bear this one in mind the next time we meet Miss Holloway. (6)
Not awful – I can see how people might even prefer this to the A-side, it certainly kicks more arse – but it’s too aimless (and frankly, too dull) to be my cup of tea. (4)
There’s a cinematic quality about this, elements of contemporary Westerns and future blaxploitation flicks that somehow imbue the record; together with Possibly-Dobyne’s excellent lead vocal, it ends up being both intriguing and undeniably cool. (7)
